Embroider to resist: the film

March 2017

M

Embroider to Resist is the meeting of a company of puppeteers and apprentice embroiderers around a strong and committed theme: the resistance of the Mothers of the Place de Mai.

This third part of the show The Crazy Ones, was born thanks to La Méridienne, formerly the Lunéville conventioned scene, as well as the Artistic Residency scheme in high schools set up by the Grand-Est region.

For over a year, The Mue/tte was welcomed at the Paul-Lapie vocational high school in Lunéville to create Les Folles and involve students in the design process of the objects in the show and the exhibition. It is also within this framework that the animated film shown during the tour was produced.

Embroider to Resist received the 3rd national prize for Artistic and Cultural Audacity awarded by the Culture & Diversity Foundation, in partnership with the Ministries of Culture, National Education and Agriculture and Food, which enabled further research into embroidery and expanded the exhibition.
