Fais-moi mâle

Creation 2018

Solo for a woman in bad company, a puppet and a few objects.
Duration 15 min – General public from 14 years old
_

“What distinguishes the human male from the rest of the animals? He is the only one to cover his body with clothing and his sexuality with gallantry. What happens when the bodies of men and women are stripped naked and the codes of the game of seduction fall away? Do we end up resembling what we devour?

A hairy man, three little pigs, some flowers, and an old cabaret singer move through a space of red fur to the sound of Boris Vian's Johnny fais-moi mal. In a register that is both tender and funny, poetic and disturbing, this silent solo also questions the female body, by turns embellished, aged, brutalized, or colonized.” Carole Guidicelli.

This short form is a prefiguration of Battre encore, 2020 creation project.
Make Me Male already draws some of its contours: scenographic and puppetry materials, relationships and changes of scale between the characters, techniques, relationships to sound and music, the alternating games of emotions, a tone.

THE CRITICISM'S CIRCLE

THE CRITICS' CIRCLE, May 25, 2018

“Through the treatment of gestures and textures, the company plows a furrow of reappropriation of the body and its image by women. Puppet poetry circumvents Manichean thinking to construct a dialogue seeking to rebalance the place of each with finesse and elegance.”

LATEST NEWS FROM ALSACE

DNA – LATEST NEWS FROM ALSACE, October 25, 2018

“The performance by Mue/tte, a visual and musical theater company from Nancy, is as offbeat as it gets. Everything about Delphine Bardot and her puppets is interesting: the content and the form, for an immediate journey into a unique universe. Not a single minute of the 15 allotted was wasted.”

“The real highlight of this first Friday session was the creation by the La Muette company entitled Make Me Male. (…). A little gem without words, which grabs you from the first second. Fifteen minutes where you are truly somewhere else, the time of a strange metamorphosis.
Frédérique Meichler
